What are the differences between Bitwarden and Lastpass and in which case should you use either of them?
Bitwarden is a fork of the Lastpass codebase. We have made significant changes to the source code, and we are not simply maintaining it as-is. The biggest difference between our software and their software is that they use proprietary algorithms for encryption (we do not), which means you cannot verify your data without trusting them with your master password or key file. They also store all user passwords in plaintext on their servers by default, whereas we never store any unencrypted information about users’ accounts anywhere on our servers or network at any time after signup/registration has completed successfully. Our goal was to create an open source alternative that anyone can audit from top to bottom if they wish; this includes auditing every line of code used in both client side applications (web browser extensions) and server side components such as web application frameworks, database libraries, etc., so people can be sure there are no backdoors being inserted into either component during development nor malicious behavior occurring when running these programs locally against one another via interprocess communication mechanisms like RPCs over HTTP(S). This level of transparency allows us to build trust with everyone who uses Bitwarden because they know exactly what happens behind the scenes before anything ever
It depends on your needs. If you are looking for a password manager that is easy to use, then Lastpass might be the best choice for you. However, if security and privacy of data stored in the cloud is important to you, then Bitwarden would be a better option as it does not store any user information or passwords in its servers but instead stores them locally on users’ devices only.
It depends on your needs. If you are looking for a free solution, Lastpass is the best choice. On the other hand, if you need more features and better security then Bitwarden will be a good option to go with.
