Could be betterHard to set up The whole GUI is absolutely horrible. If you make the slightest mistake with the mouse position it erases the entry you are working on, so if you extensively document, say bye-bye to what you typed Gusto’s ability to work seamlessly with 401k contributions is limited. Integrations

Gusto allows you to link with third-party software, like time-tracking tools, POS platforms, and even accounting software, regardless of which plan you have (QuickBooks included). Unless you use your program with QuickBooks Online, you’re limited to Intuit tools with QuickBooks Payroll. You’ll have to manually enter data from your accounting software into QuickBooks Payroll if you don’t utilize QuickBooks Online for accounting

Pricing

Both Gusto and QuickBooks Payroll offer three different subscription packages, meaning you can subscribe to a monthly base charge plus a monthly per-person fee dependent on the number of employees you add to the system. QuickBooks Payroll is the more cost-effective option. However, the more cost-effective solution will ultimately rely on how many employees you have, what features you want in your payroll software, and whether you’ll be charged any additional costs. Although QuickBooks’ reduced per-employee fees are advantageous in terms of pricing, several features that are included in a Gusto plan (such as contractor direct deposit payments and multiple state business tax filings) are not.

HR-specific features

Gusto is more than just a payroll service; it also includes a number of capabilities that are commonly associated with HR software or HCM (human capital management) software. As a result, you can manage the majority of your payroll and HR operations in the same location if you don’t want to spend money on two separate platforms. Onboarding new employees paid time off requests, and monitoring employee data all involve a lot of “busy work.” Gusto enables you to spend less time on these HR chores. All of your employees’ information is stored on a single, secure platform. Gusto’s paperless self-boarding procedure includes e-sign choices and I-9/W-4 storage for new employees. Gusto enables you to handle time-off requests on a single platform while keeping track of balances and accruals automatically.

Reports

This report shows all payrolls you added to the account before joining Gusto. This includes earnings, deductions, employee taxes, and employer taxes for each employee. This information factors into your annual totals to ensure accurate year-end reporting. Cannot be downloaded as a CSV. QuickBooks Desktop provides different reports that cater to your business needs. A report is a set of instructions that the program uses to display data from your company file. All available reports can be accessed through the QuickBooks Reports menu. There are two main types of reports in QuickBooks–Summary reports and Detail Reports. Summary reports are designed to provide you summary information about customers, sales, expenses and more. An example is the A/R Aging Summary report. This report displays information on aging customer accounts.

Automation

QuickBooks offers a number of ways to automate and manage your accounts receivable, including setting up: Recurring invoices: The customer automatically receives an invoice on a predictable schedule. Recurring credit card payments: The customer’s credit card payment is automatically processed on a predictable schedule The Tray Platform offers a full library of pre-built connectors, data helpers, and custom logic operators so you can build the exact automated workflow you need for your specific use case.

API Functionality

The Gusto API transforms payroll from being a vertical silo to a horizontal platform that seamlessly connects applications for HR, finance and other important back office functions. The immediate benefit of enabling systems to “talk” to payroll is efficiency. No more fussing with data entry or importing and exporting clunky files. By eliminating all that extra work, we’re reducing errors and allowing everyone to do what they do best. Business owners can focus on motivating and rewarding people, and their employees can look forward to getting paid with delightful, modern payroll. Everybody wins. Individual API entities correspond with forms, lists, and other tools in the customer-facing QuickBooks Online UI. For instance, apps can use the invoice entity to create, read, or send invoices in your users’ QuickBooks Online companies. When you start building your app, decide generally what you want it to do.
