Timeline

Notion’s Timeline format allows you to view database items along a linear timeline, like a Gantt chart. It displays the sequence aesthetically and comprehensibly while exposing any potential capacity issues. This makes it useful for presenting a project’s tasks or a series of events. The best part about Notion’s Timeline View is that it is just another view of the tables and databases that you already know and love. So if you’re already working with Tables in Notion, you already know how to interact with this view. You can still filter and sort with the same granularity as any other view and you can customize the view by toggling specific Properties you want to show show or hide. By switching to a Table view you can also program formulas and have the result properties show up in your Timeline View. While in Asana timeline helps you craft project plans with realistic deadlines to spot any timing conflicts and make adjustments as work progresses. It’s a more powerful Gantt chart because it’s tied to underlying work in Asana and updates in real time. It is a live view of how your work fits together that helps you start projects on the right foot and hit your deadlines. With timeline view, you can create a project plan showing how all of your project’s pieces fit together. Asana Timeline allows you to map out your project plan and assign tasks to every individual member of your team.

Calendar

Notion has calendar functionality built in: you can create a calendar with a single click, either as a block or as a page. Once you’ve created a calendar inside Notion, you can add tasks to the calendar. Notion is much more versatile than Google Calendars in terms of what you can do with tasks. By contrast, on the back of a Notion calendar task, you can do all that plus a lot more. Notion will let you add a whole nother calendar to a calendar task. And there are a few different calendar views in Asana. You can see your personal task list and projects on a calendar. Next time a teammate asks if you have the bandwidth, double check your calendar in My Tasks. Calendar is also visible in our mobile app, so you can quickly review or reschedule work when you’re away from your desk. Calendar in Asana give you different insights and should be used for different purposes, calendar view if your project is ongoing, if task are more independent of each other, if you want to get a glimpse of work happening this week or month, and if you’re looking at your own schedule in my task or your team’s overall schedule.

Reporting

With Notion, you get reports that are easy to build and even easier to update. It’s one of the most flexible work management tools on the market, meaning you can create databases and reports for just about any need. Building reporting template in Notion is pretty simple. You create a new page, add a table to the page and edit the properties of the table’s entries. The entries in the table can then be turned into a template You can then use the template to add more instances of the template to the table. The tricky part of building something like a test reporter is figuring out how to visualise the data and as Notion doesn’t currently support group by arguments in its roll up properties how to show a count of each status. And in Asana project reporting allows you to create charts on projects and understand, track, and compare important data across projects. Asana project report is a good way to quickly know the task distribution amongst the team members, performance of team members, delays in work, and so on. Universal Reporting allows you to consume and translate data in a visual, easily digestible format. Individuals across every level of your organization can combine charts in dashboard views to get a quick overview of the metrics they care about most.

Desktop and Mobile

Notion is a powerful productivity tool that allows users to create notes, tasks, wikis, databases, and everything in between all in one place. One of the great things about Notion is that it is available both as a web application, and as a native app for both desktop and mobile devices. Notion has reported that the desktop app is 50% faster and more responsive than its web counterpart which is essential if you’re working with a large or complex Notion workspace, or are accessing a template with a lot of pages or database items. You can also work offline with the app, allowing you to take your work or note-taking along with you which is a big plus if you need to access your Notion content but don’t always have an internet connection. This application helps you find flow and control your work environment by removing distractions. The Asana for Desktop application is available on Mac and Windows (not supported on Linux.) All actions and features available in the browser version of Asana are also available on desktop. Asana’s Android app is compatible with Android version 8.0 and later. Using Asana offline When you create a task or comment offline, you’ll see a banner at the bottom of your app letting you know “Asana is offline.” For larger actions such as creating or editing tasks, subtasks, projects, or comments, a light grey cloud icon will appear next to those which have not been synced. Automation

Automation services like Zapier allow you to leverage APIs in a visual interface without code. That means you can connect apps to Notion before they release official integrations. You can also automate actions within Notion, without integrating another app, such as rescheduling or recreating a recurring task. There are three ways in which you can use the Notion API: Create your own automation from scratch (if you know how to code), Use a native integration (i.e. the app you want to connect automatically interacts with Notion) and Build your own automation using a no-code helper like Zapier or Automate.io. And Asana has some great native automation tools, their integration tools may not do everything you need.
